Āchārya Jonas Lopes Masetti, Padma Shri Awardee (2025), is a distinguished traditional teacher of Vedānta and a direct disciple of Swami Dayananda Saraswati, with whom he studied for several years at the Arsha Vidya Gurukulam, Coimbatore, India. He is the Founder and Director of Vishva Vidya Gurukulam in Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil through which he has taught the timeless wisdom of Vedānta to more than 250,000 students worldwide via online and in-person programs.
Beyond spiritual teaching, Āchārya Jonas leads Pequena Tribo, a social initiative that supports underprivileged children and families in Brazil, reflecting his deep commitment to service and wellbeing.
A former mechanical engineer, he left his professional career to dedicate his life to the study, practice, and teaching of Vedānta. An international speaker, he actively promotes spirituality, cultural exchange, and dialogue between Brazil and India, and is the author of more than 10 books on Vedānta and Indian wisdom.
Recognizing his contributions, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi hailed him on Mann ki Baat as an “Ambassador of Vedic Culture in the Americas.” Through his work, Āchārya Jonas Masetti continues to be a bridge between traditions, inspiring countless seekers and advancing the cause of wellness, culture, and spiritual knowledge across the globe.
